Playing on period instruments with gut strings and baroque bows, Anglia Baroque recreate the unique sonorities of the string music of the Baroque up to the era of Bach and Handel, starting in Restoration England with music by Purcell, and taking in Italy, France, and Germany before returning home to Henry Purcell’s London.
During the 17th century, composers began to explore the potential of the increasingly fashionable violin and its relatives the viola and cello. A rich repertoire of music for the string band soon appeared, which continued to develop in the early 18th century. In this concert, Anglia Baroque explores this repertoire with its own 'Grand Tour'. The ensemble Anglia Baroque was formed in 2017 to explore the repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries. Find out more about Anglia Baroque by visiting their website. Starts: 1pm Tickets: £10 Venue: The Guildhall, Bury St Edmunds This event is promoted by Bury Festival.
